Forms, fees and templates

We encourage all documents commencing a proceeding to be submitted electronically via email, rather than in hard copy form. If possible, payment should be made by credit card, due to longer processing times for payments made by cheque or money order.

Below you can find the form and current fee for your appeal, dispute referral, application or fast track request. All fees are prescribed under regs 272 and 273 of the Building Regulations 2018 (Regulations). Please note there is no power or discretion to reduce or waive any of the fees prescribed under the Regulations. All fees received by or on behalf of the Building Appeals Board (Board) are required to be paid into the building account of the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) fund pursuant to s 205A of the Building Act 1993 (Act), which is established pursuant to s 205 of the Act. The VBA may refund fees paid from the building account of the VBA fund in whole or in part if the appeal, dispute referral, application or fast track request does not proceed (reg 274(1) of the Regulations). All requests for a refund of fees paid must be submitted in writing to the registry email. The Board must refund from the building account of the VBA fund any fee paid for a request to fast track an appeal if the request is refused.

Due to security concerns, the Board will not accept the filing of material on media such as a compact disc (CD), digital optical disc (DVD) or universal serial bus (USB). If you are filing large documents to the Board, you may wish to consider emailing the documents to the registry of the Board using a compressed (zipped) folder or via a file transfer platform such as Dropbox, Google drive, WeTransfer, etc. Please note if you are filing large documents by emailing a shared access link to a file transfer platform, please ensure that a password is not required to access the documents.

Please ensure that you use the most current version of our forms available on our website. If a previous version of a form is submitted to the Board, you may be requested by registry staff to complete and submit the current version.

All fees are effective from 1 July 2023.
