Members of the BAB are appointed for a period of up to 3 years by the Governor-in-Council, on the Minister for Housing and Building's recommendation.

Members are drawn from the professions of building surveyors, architects, engineers, town planners, builders and lawyers experienced in the building and construction industry, as well as consumer advocates.
